Examining verbal memory on the Word Memory Test and California Verbal Learning Test-Second Edition.
This study compared the Word Memory Test (WMT) and California Verbal Learning Test-Second Edition (CVLT-II) in a sample (N = 76) of outpatient physiatry referrals who passed WMT validity indices. WMT and CVLT-II raw scores showed moderate to strong correlations. WMT scores were more likely to be below expectation than CVLT-II scores using norms from the respective test manuals. With impaired sc...
متن کاملMemory performance on the California Verbal Learning Test-II: findings from patients with focal frontal lesions.
Numerous studies have suggested that frontal cortex plays a strategic, rather than an absolute, role in memory performance. Typically, frontal patients are reported to have impaired recall but normal recognition memory. A recent meta-analysis, however, has questioned this conclusion. To further investigate the role of frontal cortex in long-term memory, patients with focal frontal lesions and a...

متن کاملDetection of inadequate effort on the California Verbal Learning Test-Second edition: forced choice recognition and critical item analysis.
The Forced Choice Recognition (FCR) and the Critical Item Analysis (CIA) indices of the California Verbal Learning Test-II (CVLT-II) have been identified by the CVLT-II test developers as potentially useful, brief screening indicators of effort in neuropsychological assessment. This retrospective study analyzes performance on these measures in three groups: (1) clinically referred individuals; ...
متن کاملNew semantic and serial clustering indices for the California Verbal Learning Test-Second Edition: background, rationale, and formulae.
The original California Verbal Learning Test (CVLT) employed a semantic clustering index that used the words recalled during a given trial as the baseline for calculating expected values of chance clustering (recall-based expectancy). Although commonly used in cognitive psychology, clustering indices that use recall-based calculations of expectancy are implied by the assumption that organizatio...
